Italy: Physical Therapy

We are thrilled to offer a program for our upper level Physical Therapy students here at Nazareth. Our exchange program with Universita degli Studi G. Annunzio allows students to work with both undergraduate and graduate students, while also observing licensed professionals in their field.

Program Itinerary

This was the program itinerary in 2025. It is subject to change in future years.

Thursday, March 13

  • Departure from Nazareth for Toronto on bus
  • Overnight flight from Toronto to Rome

Friday, March 14

  • Bus to Pescara and arrival at hotel
  • Explore Pescara
  • Evening welcome dinner in a local restaurant

Saturday, March 15

  • Day trip to L'Aquila, the capital of Abruzzo

Sunday, March 16

  • Explore the town of Pescara with local University PT students. Discuss the different philosophies & methodologies of Italian vs. American physical therapy schools. 

Monday, March 17

  • Undergraduate PT program exchange at the University. Observe Italian students and share with one another ideas and different modalities. Meet with the director of the program.

Tuesday, March 18

  • Graduate PT program exchange at the University. Observe Italian students and share with one another ideas and different modalities.

Wednesday, March 19

  • Morning visit with the University President and International office. 
  • Lunch with Pescara faculty/staff and students
  • Depart Pescara and travel back to Rome
  • Arrival at hotel in late afternoon
  • Dinner in Rome

Thursday, March 20

  • Explore Rome!
  • Morning tour of the famous Roman Colosseum
  • Afternoon tour of the Pantheon
  • Dinner

Friday, March 21

  • Explore more of Rome!
  • Morning tour of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel 
  • Afternoon is time for exploring on own, shopping, 
  • Group final dinner

Saturday, March 22

  • Morning departure to Rome Airport
  • Flight to Toronto
  • Departure for Rochester by bus
  • Arrival at Nazareth in the evening

 

Accomodations

You will stay in two different hotels for the duration for the program. 

Payment Costs & Funding

The total cost for this trip in 2025 was $2,400.00. This is subject to change in future years. 

The Program Fee includes:

  • Round trip airfare
  • All hotels and accommodations
  • Most meals
  • All in-country transportation
  • Activities, excursions, and museum fees
  • International travel insurance

Not included 

  • Passport (must be valid at least 6 months past the return date of the program). Contact Josh Fess as soon as possible for assistance with applying for or renewing your passport.
  • Additional meals (meals in the airport and meals/snacks not in the itinerary)
  • Miscellaneous expenses (such as souvenirs, personal care items, etc.)

Funding Sources:

Through subsidies provided by the CIE scholarship funds, students paid $1,500 as the final out-of-pocket cost.
