Espanole School in the beautiful Mediterranean city of Valencia is a fabulous place to earn 4-6 credits of Spanish, over a 4-6 week time period. While taking classes, students will explore the city, coast, and mountains and be immersed in Spanish culture. History meets modern in the middle with 11th century roots amongst updated, fully equipped learning facilities.

Program Details

Program Dates

This program runs during Summer A. Classes begin Monday, May 18th and will run through Friday, June 12th for the standard four-week program, with the option to add one or two weeks for students who want to extend it. 

Course Information

Students will take classes (20 hours per week) in small groups based on their proficiency level. Españole Language School is accredited by the Cervantes Institute and has been a long-standing partner with Nazareth.

Accommodations

Students stay with host families in pairs, two students per family, each with their own room. Two of the four daily meals will be provided by the host family (a light breakfast and a late-night dinner). All host families are located within a 30 minute radius by public transportation to the school. 

Activities & Excursions

The following are possible activities and excursions that are included in the program fees:

2 Full Day Excursions:

  • Sagunto with visit to the Roman Theater and Castle
  • Calpe and Altea, beach and villages, or
  • Peñiscola with visit to the castle, or
  • Xativa

Activities (four per week):

  • Quiz tour in the old town
  • Modernist Valencia tour
  • Visit to the Cathedral and climb to the Miguelete tower
  • Walk in the City of Arts and Sciences and visit the Fallas Museum
  • Beach Volleyball
  • Dancing lesson: Latin dance
  • Barbecue on the school terrace
  • Walk around the "City of Arts and Sciences" and visit to the Museum of Sciences
  • Cooking workshop: Paella in the school terrace
  • Bike tour around the Turia riverbed gardens up to the City of Arts and Sciences
  • Sunset boat tour in the Albufera lake (public transport)
  • Visit to "Mestalla": the Valencia football club Stadium
  • Tapas evening
  • Climb the Serranos Towers and visit the Fine Arts Museum
Program Costs

The program cost in 2026 is $2625. This is subject to change in future years. 

Program fees include:

  • Program activities, excursions, and entrance fees
  • All accommodations
  • Partial meal plan 
  • Round-trip transfers to/from airport
  • Class materials
  • 4 credits of tuition
  • Travel insurance

Does NOT include:

  • Round-trip airfare
  • Daytime meals ("almuerzo" and "la comida" are not included)
  • Public transportation
  • Miscellaneous expenses (souvenirs, personal travel, etc.)

Application & Payment

All students must submit an online application and meet with Laura Barnard.

March 1: Online applications due (flexible)

March 15: $1000 initial deposit due 

April 1: $1000 second payment due (non-refundable beyond this point)

April 24: $625 third payment due 

 *If you are SPARK eligible, the cost to you is $1125. The grant will be automatically applied. 
 

SPARK Grant:

Qualifying freshman, sophomore, & transfer students can use their SPARK Grant for this short-term study abroad program.
