Eric Carlin

Biography

Dr. Eric Carlin is a Rochester-based Guitarist, Instructor and Singer-Songwriter.  Carlin earned a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance from Mansfield University in 2005, and Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts Degrees from the Eastman School of Music in 2008 and 2015.  A diverse musician, Eric is equally at home with a flat top or Fender Stratocaster as he is with a fine classical guitar and has over 20 years of teaching and performing experience.

Since 2010 Dr. Carlin has taught private lessons, Guitar Techniques I and II and Functional Guitar for undergraduate and graduate students at Nazareth College.  Eric also offers one-on-one lessons in several styles for majors and non-majors alike. In addition to Nazareth Dr. Carlin has been on faculty at Mansfield University since 2011 and previously taught at Alfred University.

When he’s not teaching you can find Dr. Carlin singing and playing at favorite local music venues, writing songs for future recording projects, or jamming in his Grateful Dead tribute project, Eric Carlin’s Half-Dead.
